Melissa Burton- COUNSELOR & Aging life care specialist

Melissa is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a degree from the University of Tennessee and a graduate Certificate in Gerontology. She is also a certified Advanced Professional Aging Life Care Specialist through the ALCA. 

Melissa easily connects with her clients as she supports them through the many diverse issues related to aging. From adjustment anxiety due to a new health diagnosis, to caregiver stress, Melissa is able to offer support and guidance through compassion and empathy. Melissa's unique expertise comes from working in the field of gerontology, which has given her knowledge and insight into the complicated aging process. Her years of working with the elderly and their families has led her to the understanding that each person is unique, important and deserving of respect and kindness. Through support, encouragement and a strength based philosophy, Melissa has helped many clients successfully cope with trauma, depression and anxiety. Melissa uses positive reflections, warmth and even humor to create a safe environment that allows her clients to address difficult issues.   

Prior to focusing on counseling and coaching, Melissa worked as an Aging Life Care Manager for several years with LifeLinks.  In this role she worked with families to advocate for clients within complicated healthcare and aging services systems. Melissa is a member of the NASW  and ALCA and is committed to upholding thehighest standards and the professional Code of ethics.
